During FY 2009-2010, 92% of families in the Follow-Up program maintained stable housing.

New Day Shelters

UMOM New Day Shelter focuses its homeless services and programs on families with children who make up an increasing proportion of the homeless population. UMOM accepts households including two-parent families, teenage boys (age 12 and older), single fathers with children, legal guardians and non-traditional heads of households (i.e. grandparents), and those trying to overcome substance abuse. 

Emergency Shelter

This is the entry point for up to 96 families who need help and is available for up to 120 days - usually a time of crisis intervention and stabilization.

During 2010-2011 fiscal year, this program:

  • Served 313 families totaling 1,108 individuals - of these 718 were children
  • Provided more than 77,772 total bed nights

Upon departure from this program, some families move to the UMOM Transitional Housing Program.

Transitional Housing Shelter

Here, up to 60 families are provided with the option of longer-term housing for up to 24 months. In order to qualify for the program, they are required to maintain at least 30 days of full-time, continuous employment or be enrolled in and attend school or a training program.

During 2010-2011 fiscal year, this program:

  • Served 77 families; a total of 293 individuals - of these 185 were children
  • Provided a total number of 60,652 bed nights

During this time of crisis intervention and stabilization, the families are able to access all services that are available at the UMOM New Day Centers campus.
