November 2023 Newsletter

This month, we are focused on GRATITUDE. While there is much need and much work to be done, we are thankful and optimistic.

The life-changing work we do is not possible without the partnership of our community. To everyone who has donated items or dollars, who has partnered with us to deliver quality programming, and who has spread the message that family homelessness is a solvable problem...thank you!

Giving Tuesday Goal Met!

This Giving Tuesday, we had a goal to raise $200,000 to help at families get off the waitlist, into shelter, and ultimately into a safe, stable home.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, including our matching gifts donors, we have exceeded our fundraising goal!

UMOM Awarded $5 Million Grant

Earlier this month, UMOM announced that we had received a $5 million grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund.

This one-time, uniquely flexible grant will support UMOM in serving as a critical lifeline to children and adults in families experiencing homelessness, who represent more than a quarter of the homeless population nationally. UMOM plans to use its Day 1 Families Fund grant to fund shelter and support programs serving large families, such as individualized case management, workforce development training, job placement support and more.

Most-Needed Items

As we head into the holidays, our community has generously provided more than enough toys and stockings to supply our clients.

Right now, we have the most urgent need for the following items (in order of need):

  1. New Pillows

  2. New or Gently Used Comforters for Twin or Full Beds

  3. Sheet Sets (fitted, flat, and pillowcase) for Twin or Full Beds

  4. Winter Coats for Kids and Adults

  5. Shampoo and Conditioner (individual, not 2-in-1, preferred)

Donations are gratefully accepted at our Magnolia Street Warehouse near the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

And last, but certainly not least…
