New Day Shelters

Emergency Shelter
For 66 homeless and low-income families, for up to 120 days, on our main campus.

Focused on crisis intervention and stabilization, it provides a secure environment and cadre of services including 3 daily meals, clothing, case management (required), crisis counseling, housing and transportation assistance, child care (including Head Start) and education and life skills training — all aimed at taking that first step toward breaking the cycle of homelessness.

For purposes of continuity and to help them stay focused on their goals, our case managers work with families for 1 year after departure.

Transitional Shelter
For 30 homeless and low-income families and 10 single women, for up to 24 months, on our main campus. To be eligible, adults must have income, be in school or enrolled in a training program.

The full range of services is available, all geared toward reestablishing independent living and self-sufficiency. For purposes of continuity and to help them stay focused on their goals, our case managers work with families for 1 year after departure.

Domestic Violence Shelter
In 2007, UMOM secured funding to open its first shelter specifically targeting victims of Domestic Violence.  This program has quickly grown to become one of the largest DV shelters in the state!

Watkins Overflow Shelter
UMOM New Day Centers the Watkins Overflow Shelter for the City of Phoenix, providing shelter and meals to homeless women and families!  More than 100 homeless women and families seek respite at this facility where they receive a night of shelter, meal, shower, health checks, clothes and personal hygiene items.
