Qualifications for Emergency Program and Transitional Program

UMOM offers both Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing programs.

To qualify for our Emergency Program, a parent or legal guardian must enter with at least one minor under the age of 18, with proof of custody or guardianship), OR an adult can be pregnant in their 3rd trimester. Other criteria that must be met are:

  • The family must be homeless
  • The family must fall at or below the 250% Income Poverty Guideline
  • The family must agree to abide by our rules
  • The family must be able to participate in a full time activity during their stay here (employment, school, intensive outpatient treatment)

Call us at 602-275-4533, ext. 230 to complete a phone screening. Once qualifications are met and a family agrees to our program rules, they are then scheduled to attend an 0rientation. Following orientation, families are placed on our waiting list which may be as long as a few weeks.

Each family lives in one room (with beds and a bathroom), about the size of a single hotel room. We do have a few larger rooms for larger families. Residents are required to meet with their case manager weekly. We provide all meals at no cost in the Emergency program as no cooking is allowed in the rooms. We provide many great resources including crisis counselors, a licensed child care facility, housing case managers, Parents Anonymous Program, education and employment specialists, etc.

To qualify for our Transitional Program, a parent or guardian must enter with at least one minor under the age of 18, or be a pregnant woman in her 3rd trimester. Other criteria that must be met are:
